THE UK Government is looking for a innovators to work on a digital delivery platform with the aim of unlocking up to £500 million in energy efficiency savings within the SME sector.

The Clean Growth Strategy commits the UK Government to develop a package of measures to support businesses to improve their energy productivity by at least 20% by 2030 and to explore how we can improve the provision of information and advice on energy efficiency to small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) produced research that indicates that SMEs could save £0.5 billion annually if they were more energy efficient but insufficient action is being taken. The UK Government require a specialist agile team to work with them on the Alpha phase to develop three prototypes designed to nudge SMEs onto the energy efficiency journey and trigger action.

User research by BEIS discovered that the majority of UK SMEs had extremely low awareness of energy efficiency with most not taking action to reduce their energy use. The UK Government need to get SMEs onto the journey towards energy efficiency.

BEIS has budgeted up to £250,000 for the project.
