A Sustainable Energy Future for Bulgaria

IN BULGARIA an expert team from the Energy Efficiency Agency (EEA) has developed a draft National Energy Efficiency Strategy document and sent it to energy minister Traicho Traikov for approval.

At the energy ministry a work group is to prepare the final version of the document. The strategy is based on an analysis of the current state of energy efficiency in Bulgaria and offers a list of measures for conservation of energy in all sectors of the economy.

Analysis of possible financing sources is also prepared. Recently in an interview for publics.bg Chairman of the Bulgarian National Committee of Industrial Energy) Lyuben Mashkin argued, that Bulgaria gives too much attention to energy efficiency in buildings and leaves aside the efficiency of industrial energy consumption.

The draft document looks at the next 10 years - until 2020, and will be the basis for energy efficiency and sustainable energy development policy.

The official message from EEA asserts the energy efficiency policy needs to be a priority for Bulgaria.
