Andhra Pradesh Target 20% Energy Savings

THE Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has given “state-designated agency” status to the State Energy Conservation Mission, tasking it to coordinate, regulate and enforce energy conservation and efficiency.

India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency and the Energy Conservation Committee estimate that the state can make savings of about 20% on energy consumption and costs, but the state Energy Department also wish to improve energy efficiency to help manage power supply and demand, which is always a concern in trying to avoid under capacity.

To further drive the initiative a three-member team of Energy Efficiency Services are visiting Andhra Pradesh today to discuss the measures needed to achieve the improvement in energy efficiency and conservation.
