Clean Energy Progress in Serbia

SERBIA plans to continue to improve energy efficiency across the country and increase the exploitation of renewable energy.

Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbian Energy Minister, said at a green energy conference on Monday: “Serbia is rich in energy resources, but it has not been very efficient in exploiting them. Renewable energy sources are the decisive factor in improving energy safety in the country, which Serbia can certainly accomplish.”

She added that a law on efficient use of energy and the availability of an energy efficiency fund, formulated by her Ministry, means that Serbia will make progress in energy efficiency.

She said she was satisfied that the full set of renewable energy legislation had been developed and enacted in under 12 months.
