Jobs for energy-saving products installation experts created

British Gas has announced the creation of thousands of jobs aimed at helping UK consumers install energy-saving products in their homes as part of the "biggest revolution" in home energy consumption.

The jobs, which are being backed by training at a new energy academy in Leicester, are for smart energy experts who will install British Gas smart meters in millions of homes in the country.

Commenting on development, British Gas managing director Phil Bentley said that the company is committed to helping its customers to cut their carbon emissions and fuel bills.

"Today's announcement of 2,600 new jobs by 2012 shows we are creating skilled green jobs in Britain and training the experts who will help customers become more energy-efficient in the future," he said.

As well as installing the meters, the experts will advise consumers on how to control their energy usage and cut their carbon emissions while helping them to learn how to generating their own energy.

The government aims to cut Britain's greenhouse gas emissions by 34 per cent by 2020.ADNFCR-2541-ID-19246703-ADNFCR
