Malaysia Consider New Energy Efficiency Policy

MALAYSIA has a new policy on energy efficiency in the final drafting stages ahead of being presented to the Cabinet.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, stated yesterday that such a policy is critical as many issues will be addressed by improving energy efficiency and identifying possible new sources of energy, including a governmental master-plan for renewables.

Muhyidden said: “We are aware of the importance of energy efficiency and conservation and how we manage our resources.

“Having a masterplan in place enables us to further explore the various possibilities as far as renewable energy is concerned.”
