Nigeria to Increase Energy Efficiency Awareness

NIGERIA is to increase it’s promotion of energy efficiency through the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) according to the country’s Leadership newspaper.

Director-General of NOA, Mike Omeri, is reported by the paper as stating that a program will be increased following on from a previous successful NOA campaign. The revised programme will start with the public sector and residential consumers.

Omeri is reported as saying that the UNDP Energy Efficiency Programme, can be explained well to Nigerians and then help combat Nigeria’s energy demand shortfall.

UNDP delegation leader, Yapp Jason, added that Nigeria is blessed with many resources but they need to maximise the energy supply and improve energy efficiency to achieve its full potential.

Yapp added that the latest project will enlighten Nigerians on the gains of simple actions, such as switching off lights and using energy saving lighting.
