Telangana State Has to Save Energy

THE Indian state of Telangana’s government is set to ban air conditioner use in state government offices due to an acute power shortfall across the state.

Chief State Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao claims the power shortage is unlikely to disappear quickly, with the energy department looking at all the options to cut energy demand.

Another strategy they may use is to change office working times to 8am to 2pm, cutting out a lunch break, to again cut the demand of the scant power resources.

Government offices, along with other establishments, are being encouraged to use sunlight as far as possible, avoiding the use of electrical lighting.

As a positive energy efficient action the state will be fitting LED streetlights in all the states municipalities.

The situation is currently desperate but it is hoped that energy conservation measures and improved energy generation will mean the future will literally be brighter.
