US Industry Wastes Too Much Energy

U.S. industries consume a third of the country's energy but current policies do not adequately address the energy saving opportunities.

According to the Industrial Energy Efficiency Coalition (IEEC) wasted electricity accounts for almost 25 percent of their total energy consumption, meaning US industry needs help to cut their energy use and improve energy efficiency.

The Coalition claim that the policies and investment decisions being made today “do not adequately address energy savings opportunities in the industrial sector.”

The drive for industrial efficiency is worth pursuing if you consider the numbers.

Better automation and control technologies would help reduce energy losses considerably, according to the IEEC, and making such improvements over the next 25 years, such improvements could help the US industrial sector cut its energy footprint by 25 to 30 percent.
